[Update 20 September 2024. Although the Kent Children’s University has now closed, the Woodchurch Village Life Museum will continue to be a Learning Destination for the national Children’s University, so you will still be able to enjoy extra-curricular activities and earn Learning Credits with us just as before.]

The Woodchurch Village Life Museum has recently become an approved Public Learning Destination for Children’s University. This means we are authorised to issue learning credits in participating children’s Passports to Learning.

We are incredibly proud of this partnership, as the validation process shows that our methods for inspiring and educating children and young people meets with the quality assurance process of the national Children’s University Trust.

What is the Children’s University?

The Children’s University (CU) is a charity that provides five- to fourteen-year-olds with access to exciting and innovative learning activities and experiences outside the normal school day. They reward children’s participation in voluntary learning activities that will develop their skills and raise aspirations for the future.

How Does the Children’s University Work?

The Children’s University (CU) recognises and rewards children for all the additional learning they take part in voluntarily outside normal school hours. Once registered through a school or direct through the local CU, children can earn Learning Credits in a variety of ways, including taking part in activities held at Public Learning Destinations, which includes the Woodchurch Village Life Museum. The CU provides children with a Passport to Learning and a CU Online account so they can collect credits as evidence of their learning.

Once children achieve a fixed number of Learning Credits, they can celebrate their success at a very special Graduation Ceremony
